COOKIE POLICY
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small files which are stored on a user's computer and hold data relating to a specific website. Cookies are placed on the user's computer by that website and accessed each time a user browses the site. We primarily use cookies to collect data to help us improve our website by seeing which parts of the site are being used, how users are navigating to each page and what items on each page they prefer to click on. Nonetheless we would like you to know which cookies Mediterra employs, why we use them, and give you the option to opt-out of us using them on your device if you wish.
Below we have listed each of the cookies that our site sets, with detail as to why we use them. For those that want a little more information, we've added information which details the exact purpose of every cookie we create. Lastly, we've included information about the time the cookie is kept on your system (is it kept after you leave the site, to be used when you return − persistent − or deleted once your visit is completed and only used for that visit − session).
You can opt-out of certain cookie types by going to the cookie preference centre. Opting out will apply only to the browser or device that you are currently using, so you may need to change these settings again if you use other browsers or devices to browse the web.
We will make every effort to recognise and respect your choices; however there is a small chance that not all cookies and similar methods of data capture will be covered by these settings. If this is a concern to you then we recommend that you change the settings in your browser. If you wish to restrict or block web browser cookies which are set on your device then you can do this through your browser settings; the Help function within your browser should tell you how. Alternatively, you may wish to visit www.aboutcookies.org, which contains comprehensive information on how to do this on a wide variety of desktop browsers.
1. Strictly necessary cookies
Some cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around the website and use its features. Without these cookies, we will not be able to connect you to our site properly.
We spend a lot of time and effort ensuring that our site remains available all the time; to do that we have web servers running in many different locations. In order to ensure that your journey through the site works properly we like to keep you connected to the same locations. It also allows us to spread the load, meaning our site remains as performant as it can be.
Local Storage
In addition to cookies, local storage allows us to use a tiny bit of space on your machine to store information, in much the same way as cookies. We use this to store information which, we feel, enhances your journey through the site by remembering previous actions and making them default for the future. All local storage is persistent, with no expiry.
2. Functional cookies
These cookies allow us to understand how people use our website and where they came from, so that we can measure and improve the performance of our website, as well as to remember your preferences. They help us see which pages are the most and least popular, and how visitors move around the Mediterra website. These cookies also allow us to give you tools like videos and currency converters. When we use the information from these cookies it is grouped together and therefore anonymous. If you do not allow these cookies we will not know when you have visited our website and will not be able to monitor its performance.
3. Targeting and tracking
These cookies record your visit to the Mediterra website, the individual pages you visit, the links you follow and the type of device you use. We will use this information to make the Mediterra website and the adverts we show you more relevant to your interests. Our use of these cookies might also mean that you may see Mediterra adverts when you visit Facebook. These cookies record your activity on the Mediterra website and our partners may use that information to show you adverts that they think you will be most interested in when you visit other websites. Our partners may also use information recorded by these cookies to see how well their adverts are performing. If you do not allow these cookies, you may see more content and adverts that do not match your interests.
Third-Party Cookies
You may notice some cookies that are not related to Mediterra. Some Mediterra web pages contain embedded content, like YouTube or Vimeo, which means you may be sent cookies from these websites. Also, if you share a link to a Mediterra page, the service you share it on (for example, Facebook) may set a cookie on your browser. We also use cookies from third-party advertising partners (see below for a list of our advertising partners) to deliver relevant adverts to you both on our platforms and on other websites. We do not control third-party cookies so please check the third-party websites for more information about their cookies, how to manage them and to opt-out of their use of cookies and behavioural advertising.
